The Parenting Network
The Parenting Network is a FREE, voluntary program for stay-at-home parents with children under 3 years of age. This program serves the entire Jefferson County area. In order to be enrolled in the program, families must meet certain eligibility requirements: income status (household income must fall under 185% of poverty level), stay-at-home parent status, child under age 3, and participation in the Parents As Teachers program. The program provides monthly meetings to enrolled families that address issues affecting children and families. Free childcare is provided at the educational meetings. Enrolled families also participate in a monthly home visit to discuss individual family goals and concerns. Families receive incentives for attending monthly meetings and participating in home visits. Other meetings include a parent-child interaction meeting held twice a quarter and a Mom’s Night Out offered once a quarter. The Parenting Network promotes literacy by offering free books to families that complete monthly reading logs. The program has an extensive lending library for parents to check out books, videos, and theme boxes to enhance learning and parenting knowledge.
